Anyone that knows about graffiti, street art, subways, or mid 80′s New York probably already knows about Martha Cooper. I had the good fortune to meet Martha a few years back and to my surprise she was originally from Baltimore, the same as me. We had plenty in common, but I was struck by how friendly and approachable she was.

I told her that I was going to be spraying out my largest stencil on canvas and invited her to come by the studio if she wanted. To my surprise she accepted the offer and came by on a busy day at the studio. It was one of the first really nice days in NY this spring, so that day Haze, Stash, Martha Cooper, Tristan Eaton and a few other folks stopped by. It reminded me of why I love NY. To be surrounded by people who you respect and admire is the difference between you thriving and existing.

The photos below were taken by Martha the day I was spraying out a 12ft by 8ft canvas with 10 layers.
